Say hello to the MQSA 2026 events schedule!

We’ve curated an amazing series of workshops, talks and events for the show next March.

International award-winning quilter Tania Tanti will be our featured artist, alongside a host of other big-name makers, designers and teachers.

Top Aussie modern quilters will share their design secrets, and help you to create your own unique quilts. Learn techniques, follow journeys, find inspiration, or slow down with hand stitching. Learn how to capture beautiful images of your quilts for show entries; discover how ethnic textiles inspired an exquisite series of mini modern masterpieces; and study the mysteries of tessellation: and this is just a handful of the themes on offer at the show.

Use the ‘Events’  tab on the website menu to find the complete schedule and details of events.

With a wonderful mix of social events, fascinating talks and great half-day workshops across all three days of the show in mid-March, the Modern Quilt Show Australia’s events schedule has something that will appeal to everyone.

Heads up! Entries closing soon.

Here’s a gentle reminder that the online entry form for MQSA 2026 will close this coming Monday, 10 November, at 5:00pm.

Go to the ‘Entries’ tab on the website menu to find the form.

Quilters can enter a maximum of two quilts (please note: group quilt entries are not counted when calculating this maximum).
Entries will be subject to a Jury Selection process.
For any other questions regarding your entry and the show categories, please refer to our Terms & Conditions. Please make sure you’ve read and understood these T&Cs before submitting your entry.

If (like several of us!) you’re furiously stitching away and worried that you won’t get finished in time, please remember — because it’s a while since the last MQSA — you can enter any modern quilt that has been completed since January 2021.
Also, your entry does not have to be complete in the image you upload to the entry form. But please note that you want it to be a clear representation of the finished quilt, in order to give it the best chance during the jury process.

We’re really looking forward to seeing all the wonderful quilts hanging at Petersham Town Hall next March. Good luck!

Breaking news!

Quick pivot on the venue for Modern Quilt Show Australia 2026.

Due to unexpected circumstances over which we had no control, we will be moving the event from Hurstville to Petersham Town Hall (Inner West of Sydney) – it’s a much-loved venue, where we held the last Sydney-based show back in 2017. A beautiful building with soaring ceilings and flooded with natural light, which shows the quilts at their very best. Whilst this has been a bit of a curve-ball for the organising committee, we are delighted to be returning to this familiar location.

All other aspects of the event, including the dates, timing, events program and stall holders remain unchanged; and (with thanks to the support of Inner West Council) we’re confident MQSA 2026 will be the same excellent event that we’ve been working on all this time.

Apart from this little hiccup, planning has been progressing well, and we’re putting the finishing touches to a really exciting schedule of workshops, talks and events that will be launched in the next couple of weeks.  Keep your eyes open for news, because we know that sessions are going to be really popular.

See you in Petersham next March!
